Upcoming webinar will clarify restraint guidelines

In our next CoLabs webinar, we’re teaming up with Gillian Robinson (RN, BN, and Lead Auditor from Healthcare Compliance Solutions) to help those working in the Aged Care sector understand how to put the new restraint guidelines into practice.

Although the Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standard came into effect on 28th February 2022, many of those working in the Aged Care sector haven’t yet had a chance to fully digest what the changes mean, or how to put them into action.

“Customers have long told us they’re confused about what is and isn’t classified as restraint. And getting it right can be a minefield,” says Cubro Aged Care Account Manager Ashley Currie. “Our goal in hosting this webinar is to help ensure all Aged Care workers in New Zealand understand what the guidelines mean and are clear about the steps they need to take to achieve the best practice outcomes.”

Designed specifically for Aged Care Facility and Clinical Managers, Ashley encourages all Aged Care workers to tune in to the webinar or watch the on-demand version, to learn from Gillian.

“We’re lucky to be teaming up with someone as experienced as Gillian - she’s already set me straight on a couple of things,” says Ashley. “This is your chance to come along and pick Gillian’s brain about what is and isn’t classified as restraint and learn what procedures you’ll need to adjust to ensure you comply and pass your audits.”

Gillian Robinson (RN, BN, and Lead Auditor from Healthcare Compliance Solutions) will join us to explain the new restraint guidelines and how to put them into practice.

Gillian will also be available following the presentation to answer any questions or challenges our customers are experiencing. Certificates will be issued to all those who attended to go towards your CPD.

Webinar background

The Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standard came into effect on 28th February 2022, replacing the Health and Disability Services Standards NZS 8134:2008.

The new standard reflects the shift towards more person and whānau-centred care. People are empowered to make decisions about their own care and support to achieve their goals. The updated standard is focused on achieving equity and supports providers to meet their Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

If you’d like to know more about how these new guidelines will impact your Aged Care facility, we’re happy to help. Simply get in touch and we’ll arrange a time to talk.
