Important announcement: Our product labelling is changing

3 minute(s) to read

You may have noticed that we have started to change the way we label our equipment solutions. We’ve made this change to make it easier for you and your clients to easily identify the intended use of our products. It also helps us to ensure that all our products comply with global and national quality and safety standards.

What information is on our new labelling?
Our improved product labels are designed to help you identify key information at a glance, like maximum user weight, the environment where the product is suitable for use i.e. indoor or outside use; and the relevant quality standard(s) that each product meets.

Here’s an example of our new product labelling:

We recommend that our label information is used in conjunction with the relevant product user guide and manufacturer’s instructions, as these contain full specifications and important information pertaining intended use, user health and safety; warranty and product care and maintenance.

What’s driving this change?
We are changing our labelling because we are committed to delivering the best possible health outcomes for everyone who uses our equipment. We never compromise on quality and we always put the health, safety and wellbeing of those who use our products first.

We believe that improving the quality of our labelling will give you and your clients greater confidence that the products you’re recommending meet international quality and safety standards.

The labelling of walking frames/rollators

We recently changed the labelling on our walking frames and rollators, which we understand may have caused some confusion about which products you should prescribe to clients. We’re sorry if our labelling changes caused confusion and we are keen to put this right.

International standards listed below:

  • ISO 11199-1:1999 Walking aids manipulated by both arms — Requirements and test methods — Part 1: Walking frames
  • ISO 11199-2:2005 Walking aids manipulated by both arms — Requirements and test methods — Part 2: Rollators
  • ISO 11199-3:2005 Walking aids manipulated by both arms — Requirements and test methods — Part 3: Walking tables

(source: https://www.standards.govt.nz/) specifies that all walking frames and rollators which are suitable for outside use must have wheels which are 180mm or greater in size (8 inches) and a minimum wheel width of 22mm.

While our walking frames have not changed, our improved labelling now specifies if a walking frame is suitable for indoor or outdoor use, based on these standard requirements.
