Mounting evidence of ceiling hoist effectiveness
A review of recent evidence-based studies about the effectiveness of ceiling hoists, outlines the many benefits overhead lifting solutions provide.
Undertaken by WorkSafe Queensland, the review explored the findings of four significant research projects undertaken in a range of clinical settings - hospitals, private homes, and aged care facilities - in Canada, the UK and the USA.
Collectively, these studies endorse the use of ceiling hoists as an effective tool for reducing the injuries and risks associated with carers who perform patient handling.
Although ceiling hoist systems require a larger capital investment comparative to other moving and handling tools like mobile hoists - the review found that overhead lifting solutions are more cost effective in the long run.
