When it comes to service and maintenance, we have a nationwide team of qualified service specialists who are trained in testing, preventative maintenance and repair of medical and mobility equipment. In June, we opened a new Cubro branch in Dunedin, where Justin Bennet has joined as our newest member of the Cubro service team. We sat down with Justin to hear more about his new role.

What brought you to Cubro?

I thought it was a great opportunity. My role will be quite varied as aside from supporting the service and technical team, I will also be working with the Cubro Express team who deliver and install complex pieces of equipment into Aged Care facilities.

Tell us a bit about your experience and some of the previous roles you had?

This is my first role as a service technician with my relevant experience from working as a domestic and commercial electrical apprentice in Dunedin for the last 19 months.

That role gave me a broad understanding of the electrical industry with jobs ranging from re-wiring older dwellings to pre-wiring and fitting off new builds through to setting up infrastructure on rural properties, maintaining equipment, doing electrical compliance checks and installing and repairing appliances and other equipment.  With this relevant industry experience I will be working toward achieving my Electrical Appliance Serviceperson certificate.

What do you like to get up to in your spare time?

I like to keep pretty busy. I live with my partner of 6 years and her 9-year-old daughter in Kenmure, Dunedin. I’m an avid DIY enthusiast so there is nothing left to renovate at home, so we’ll be looking for a new home or project in the near future.

I’m still actively involved in social cricket and hit the gym 3–4 nights per week for fitness. I enjoy fishing from time to time and also enjoy brewing my own beer.

How do you feel about working with Aged Care facilities?

I’m excited to get involved back in the sector again. I actually spent 19 years working in the hospitality industry as a qualified chef and kitchen manager with 7 of those years managing kitchens within the Aged Care sector.

Speaking of food, if you had to eat one thing for every meal going forward, what would you eat?

I would have to say steak!
